INVESTMENT FAQS

Q: Your flat fee of $4995, is that really for any role and salary?

A: Yes. We have worked hard to try and create an offer that addressed some of the feedback from our research that suggested you felt it was tricky to believe there was a big variation in the work undertaken to hire for a salary of $61K vs $71K.

So, our flat fee is based on a time and motion study of all the activities undertaken and the average time it takes to work through them. And when we say average, we have always rounded down in your favour. So, the only change to this would be if you want us to conduct our search in a way that would push us beyond the averages we have factored in. This will be easily identified through our kick-off consultation and we can advise on any potential changes that may be required.

Through experience, we would advise that if you are looking for a senior hire, the requirements are likely to be more specific, the talent pool potentially smaller and as such, our search may take longer. In this scenario, we would expect to need to factor in some additional costs for extra hours spent on passive search. This can all be worked through on a role by role basis and we would recommend the investment model that offers you the best value.

Q: Other agencies have a lower percentage fee than 15%. Can you explain how your pricing structure works?

A: Absolutely, we understand price is a big consideration and can vary between agencies.
Here's the thing, other agencies have their own approach, and we can't speak to their specifics. Our 15% fee reflects the quality of the work we undertake and the years of experience in what we deliver, when we are working based on the outcome. The benefit to you, is that if your hiring needs change and you choose not to recruit the role, there is no financial obligation to you, regardless of the work and investment undertaken by us. There is only a fee due when your chosen team member starts with you.

That said, we know flexibility is important. If you're open to working with us in collaboration based on work undertaken, we offer two alternative fee options that might be a better fit: a flat fee or a lower percentage with some of the fee due on kick off of the search.

If you’d like to chat about your specific needs, we can discuss which option is the best for you.

Q: With the 12% fee, what does the $750 cover, in terms of getting my search started?

A: The $750 kick-off fee is an investment on your search and has been calculated based on the activities associated to the first phase of kicking off your bespoke search. This includes but is not limited to, a detailed brief, creating your job advert and imagery for a multitude of job posting sites, advertising the role and reviewing and responding to all applicants. This investment covers a proportion of the time taken to undertake these activities and the guarantee of payment enables us to offer a lower overall fee. If the full hire is successful, the $750 is deductible from the total amount due.

Ultimately, this kick-off fee helps us dedicate resources to launch a targeted campaign and ensures we are working in a

committed partnership.

Q: For the 12% option, when would the remaining fee be due?

A: The rest of the fee will be invoiced, when the successful person has accepted their offer.

Q: I noticed the 15% option doesn't have a kick-off fee. Can you explain why?

A: The kick-off fee is non-refundable and in exchange, we are offering you a lower fee. With the 15% fee option, we will not lower our fee, therefore no kick-off fee is necessary. This is a great choice if the upfront kick-off fee isn't the best fit for you. Rest assured, the high-quality service you'll receive remains the same, regardless of the fee structure you choose.
Working at 12% however, will always save you in excess of $750 over the placement.

Ultimately, the choice is yours! The 12% option can save you money overall, but the 15% option might be better if you prefer not to pay an upfront fee.

See benefits table below, for more detail.

Q: What allows you to offer competitive fees while still delivering high-quality services?

A: Here's why we can offer competitive fees while maintaining high-quality service.

To address the elephant in the room - our lower costs do not reflect the level of service we offer. One of our founding principles is to change the perception of recruiting, in particular high fees. Addressing the commercial relationship is key to this.

The traditional recruitment model can be inefficient, with agencies competing to fill roles, when they might not get paid. Unfortunately behaviours can creep in that make it about the race to get a person's CV to a client, rather than it being the best person/CV for the role. This model has lead to bad working practices which has been made clear to us when undertaking feedback on what clients want, and isn’t good for anyone. We want to create change and we’ve taken a hard look at the industry.

This competition “no win, no fee” way of operating is a contributing factor as to why agency fees can be quite high, as in some cases you are offsetting the risk of all the unpaid hours of work.

We believe in a different approach. We focus on building strong partnerships with clients and finding great people for your specific needs, even if it takes more time. That's why we offer fee options that incentivise a collaborative approach.
Our lower fee options require an upfront commitment from you, but here's the benefit: It allows us to dedicate more resources to your search from the start. We can invest our effort in crafting a targeted campaign, attracting top talent, and taking the time to carefully screen. This ultimately saves you time and money in the long run.

Think of it as an investment in your hiring process. We've priced this option based on the average time each stage takes, ensuring it's fair and allows us to still operate effectively. It's our best offer for a successful partnership!

Q: What happens if after my investment, you’ve undertaken your search and you don't find someone for my team?

A: It's important to address what happens if we are unable to find your next team member during the search in the options where you are investing upfront.

A lesser known point about the recruitment process, is that 80% of the work to find you a great person, is undertaken before you get to interview stage. Where part of the fee is non-refundable, we are guaranteeing to undertake all the steps required to assess the market for you and understand who is available for your role at that moment in time. The job and economic market can mean that finding the right person for the role, can be different at different times. This takes some time, effort and our experience.

On extremely rare occasions, this can mean that there is not a person that you find suitable at that time, however these scenarios are more often linked to the specifics of the overall job package. Through our service, this is where our communication and consultative approach will likely have advised you of these things along the way and small flexes on the offer, will usually always enable you to expand the search. As always, it’s up to you if you choose to proceed with who we present to you.

In this rare circumstance, having not proceeded to interview, just the upfront fee will be non-refundable as a contribution towards some of the work undertaken up to this point (80%) in the process.

Equally, if we think you have a tricky search, we’ll recommend that the flat-fee option is not suitable from the outset.

Q: What happens if we find a great person, but they receive a counteroffer from their current employer? Do I have to pay for the service again?

A: We know it is difficult to account for all eventualities, but through our process, we should have a good understanding of who you have offered the role to, their motivations and what the impact of a counter offer might be to them. These are scenarios that will be managed through the process, that we’ll likely have on our radar and will be managing throughout making sure we advise you on actions you can take to de-risk certain scenarios happening.

Ultimately we are promoting a partnership. If it does happen, we’ll work with you to review the best next steps and conclude to another offer for the role.
